The discovery of Chiang Mai western north of Bangkok
“The largest city in northern Thailand, founded in 1296 as a new capital of Lan Na” • Wikipedia
The beginning
Booking a ticket to Chiang Mai is the opportunity and discovery experience of northern Thailand. In mid of July 2015, i arrived in Chiang Mai holding a big bag and a small backpack with laptop and DSLR camera.
I learnt to drive the scooter with the mentorship from one of our team who has expertise in Marketing and Products. The driving lesson he gave me was good which i able to drive it quickly with few basic of driving lessons.
The discovery
After a while, i planned to rent the scooter for one month which was the ideal decision to drive and discover places surrounding Chiang Mai. The first place i visited was Waterfall in Doi Suthep where the condition of the weather was heavy rain and we ended up totally wet durign the visit. We decided to drive and continue our journey to the upper of the mountain after the raining stop for a while from “Doi Pui View Point” to “Hmong Village”. In “Hmong Village” we ate the spicy noodle soup with Chicken meatball along with a cold drinks. One of memorable viewpoints were “Doi Pui View Point” and “SONG SEAN COFFEE” with 180° view of the scene surrounded by trees and mountains.
AIS Camp located in MAYA shopping mall is one the favorite places for co-working space, the venue has lots of table and even the meeting room for your team to brainstorm and run kick-off meeting. The decoration inside the Camp is brilliant and modern style making us wanna come back and work in that place again and again. The place inspired me a lot during the design phase of the freelance project which started in the Mid of July 2015.
The experience
Chiang Mai is the placed where i started my full-time work in Thailand after my previous work in one of the big Emirati media conglomerate in the Middle East and north Africa. The media launched in London in 1991, and moved to Dubai in 2002. The weather condition is great in Chiang Mai, however the air quality isn’t great in Chiang Mai during the burning season where most of crops are being burned in traditional agriculture style. There are lots of places in Chiang Mai and some people usually traveling outside northern of Chiang Mai to cross the neighborhood of Thailand such as Laos and Myanmar.
